High Fructose Corn Syrup Update
The scientific jury may still be out, but I have made up my mind.
After writing my last post about high fructose corn syrup I have tried my hardest to completely remove this substance from my diet. This has proven very difficult, but I think I have accomplished a very significant reduction by avoiding processed sweets, and buying natural and organic foods when I possible.
The results: I have lost almost 10 pounds, feel less hungry between meals, and I don't get as grumpy and tired after long periods of not eating
I realize that removing any type of sugar from my diet would have had similar results, but the problem with HFCS is that it is in everything, and you don't think "sugar" when you see it on a label. I am still consuming quite a bit of cane sugar in home made cookies and treats though, so there is something else going on here.
Not only is cane sugar better for you, it also tastes better. There has been a run on Costco for "Mexican" Coca Cola containing cane sugar.
Due to demand for ethanol corn prices are skyrocketing now is the perfect time to remove the corn subsidies that are pushing our country further into obesity. US corn farmers are doing just fine, time to switch back to cane sugar.
